Faith During Troubled Times

The most striking aspect of Habakkuk is the way it places God in the center of history and of personal consciousness. Habakkuk teaches us how to rejoice when the lid has blown off everything and nothing that we once counted on as a reference point remains fixed. Everything is gone, including the food that we once took for granted. Despite the impending annihilation of his nation, its army, temple, and citizens by the most hated foe around at the time, Habakkuk had peace in his heart that the God he served was still in control. This is a lesson for us today.
