We are a caravan of merchants on our way to Egypt to do some trading. We ran into some bad weather and lost our way. But we knew if we kept heading east, we would run into the Red Sea. As we were proceeding eastward, we came to an astonishing sight. In a very large flat area, we saw thousands of tents, all arranged in an orderly fashion, and a multitude of people. In the middle of the massive encampment, we saw a great altar.
When we reached Egypt, we were again shocked at what we found; the streets were almost barren. No sound of building, no yelling of taskmasters, no slaves to be found anywhere. We asked what happened and put two and two together; it was a multitude of former slaves that we saw in the desert. I hope they enjoy desert camping; it can be brutal!
